Invoicing on ChorusPro [1]
**Here’s the short version which I hope answers your question. To see the ‘invoices’ menu option, you need to log out and log back in again.**
Invoicing on ChorusPro
The French government has introduced a new centralized online invoicing system which small suppliers of services to universities have to deal with. It’s the most horrific internet nightmare I have ever encountered. But, hey, if you’ve come to this post then you probably already know this.
I am far from having received my first payment through Chorus Pro. But this is an emergency post for anyone else out there currently tearing their hair out and wondering what is going on.
Where is the invoicing menu option on ChorusPro?
Thanks to a post on UK Business Forums I learned that after you have set yourself up as an individual user, you have to create yourself as a structure, and then connect your individual user profile to your structure. Then you should be able to find the option to add espaces (areas) including options pertaining to invoices.
But even after you have checked the services you want, you still don’t see the menu bar options for invoices. Why? I found the answer buried on the support pages:
Après avoir cliqué sur le bouton Valider, l’espace ajouté est actif et devient visible dans le bandeau supérieur de Chorus Pro pour le(s) gestionnaire(s) de la structure après reconnexion.

Translation: You have to log out and then log back in again, and then the menu options are visible.
UPDATE 2023. After the investment in getting set up, the system works ok, though for a small supplier like me it does not compensate for the loss of direct contact with a human being. Moreover I have a feeling that the system is only working because there are a lot of human beings behind the scenes, taking the slack.
I managed to get paid on it ONCE but only because of a very proactive and helpful secretary with whom I shared my password, and she entered everything for me! Last time I got paid from such a job, the author himself paid me after almost a year of failing to get my invoice to register. I can only hope he managed to claim the money back from his institution.
